I have several old home video DVDs that burned many years ago. As we know nowadays, DVD readers are no longer common, it might be hard to get one in the future. So it’s best to get them my DVD online like Youtube.

Unfortunately, converting DVDs to Youtube is not something we can just do with an out-of-the-box MacBook Pro machine. Below are the steps-by-steps taken.

1. Get a DVD reader

Okay, I say it’s converting DVD to MP4 free, and I lied on this one. I bought a DVD reader for my Mac. It’s only a one-off. And that’s the only cost I pay (in terms of $$) for this conversion process. The other steps below are free.

With the DVD reader, when I put in the DVD, it will prompt the region to set. I don’t recall which region I set back then (I don’t think I need to set it back then).

I don’t want to waste resetting anything now, given there are only 5 times one can set it. So instead of reading the DVD…
