Appreciate the inputs, and insight into language development.

You are right that such evolution is influence by Java partly. Though there are parts that Java is not adopting yet (e.g. type inferencing).

It’s true that language influence IDE more than the other way round. And I absolutely agree that language is more REPL focused and driven in its development.

It just that, I feel there’re subtle influences of the IDE that will has enable language changes too, though not a direct influence. One example is the @override annotation used in the Java environment, that now became a keyword in Kotlin. This may not the best example, but just think there is some influence.
