Software Development Ain’t a 9 am to 5 pm Job
We just cannot measure software development by the time spent
“When you grow up, get a good 9 to 5 job.” That’s the advice given to me when I was young.
After working in Software Development for many years, I realize that’s not my life. Although technically 9 to 5 is in the contract, in reality, that’s not the time I spent on the work.
Not sure if this is just me, or generally most people in this field? I just cannot equate my work with the hours expected.
In wondering of this fact, below are the probable reason this nature of the job is not really “time-bound”… at least based on my experience.
Massive learning overhead
Before getting on to mobile development, I worked in a warehouse as a stock refill personal. My responsibility is to move incoming goods and distribute them to different locations in the warehouse accordingly. Not much pre-requisite of skill is needed.
