How to Backup An iMovie Project

We don’t want to keep our iMovie project on our machine forever, as our machine may get old and need to be replaced. Hence it’s important to periodically backup them into an external drive.

Another reason to backup

I always think I need to backup my iMovie movie project together with all the source raw files (pictures, videos, music etc). But the good news is, that’s not needed. The iMovie project do have all that bundled together in it’s project. Therefore, itself is huge. So it’s good to constantly backing it up, so that it don’t take up additional space in our machine

Step 1: Create Another iMovie Library

Go to File → Open Library → New and then name the library.

Note the prefer location is in an external disk drive

In case you have an Existing Library available

In this case, don’t need to create a new library. Open your library instead, and it will load…
